Sleep - By Justin Stankevich
My loyal friend waited
by the side of my bed.
His ears perked up
at the sound of my snores.
His bowl nudged closer,
making scratching sounds.
I tossed and turned
and hoped to sleep.
He barked and jumped
and hoped to wake.
My eyes now open,
and turned to the clock,
my body fills with shock
'cuz it's past ten o'clock.
by the side of my bed.
His ears perked up
at the sound of my snores.
His bowl nudged closer,
making scratching sounds.
I tossed and turned
and hoped to sleep.
He barked and jumped
and hoped to wake.
My eyes now open,
and turned to the clock,
my body fills with shock
'cuz it's past ten o'clock.

This is a poem that is about man's best friend and how tired you can be from taking care of them. From growing up in a household of dogs, and currently owning eight of them, I know how exhausting it is to take care of them. My parents often have to take extra naps from the lack of sleep they get some nights. Though with all the extra sleep, it doesn't always make up for the nights rest they may have missed because of the dogs.
